Urban Outfitters Strikes Again

Navajo Panties...no wonder why they are mad

It seems that Urban Outfitters  keeps getting in trouble. Some of you may remember the LARGE donation that was made to arch-conservative Rick Santorum. Miley Cyrus initiated  a boycott based on that move, that still lingers today on F.B. A few months ago I posted a few local tales of Urban’s exploitative practices, there are a number of tales from local artisans who claim U.O. copied designs based on sample pieces they purchased. http://retailfix52.wordpress.com/2011/10/10/miley-cyrus-ve…ban-outfitters/ This time they really pulled a good one. The Navajo Nation is on the warpath claiming trademark infringement. Come on Urban do your homework before you produce a line. The hubris of success has caused you to lose sight of your social responsibility, a big gaff considering the image you try to portray.

Here is another case where they were selling an American designer’s work which had literally been directly cast (including her signature!) from her design by a foreign manufacturer.
Their due diligence in checking their supplier’s work is original was not exactly thorough

How many more examples do the public need to see?
